Abstract

Allergic rhinitis and sleep-disordered breathing are prevalent in Korea. Patients with obstructive sleep apnea syndrome frequently complain of allergic rhinitis symptoms, such as nasal obstruction, sneezing, rhinorrhea or itching. They occasionally have snoring and obstructive sleep apnea. Furthermore, both allergic rhinitis and sleep-disordered breathing may worsen the quality of life. This study was conducted to investigate the relationship between allergic rhinitis and sleep-disordered breathing and the effect of treatment of allergic rhinitis on sleep-disordered breathing. A better understanding of the relationship between allergic rhinitis and sleep-disordered breathing will help to properly manage patients with both clinical entities.
